The National eSports League will run on a ranking system in order to keep track of player’s performances. The ranking system could also serve as a criterion for eSports athletes to represent the country and serves as a reference to the upcoming South East Asian Games, which will be hosting eSports for the first time in its history.
The Minister has also planned a few programs for eSports development, including eSports training centres throughout the country. He also says that the Johor Sports Council has included eSports for Sukan Malaysia 2020 (SUKMA 2020). At current, there’s still no confirmation as to which game titles will be used during the National eSports League or SUKMA 2020. However, given the trend, we’re probably looking at a list that include Dota 2, Tekken 7, and EA’s FIFA franchise. (Source: Syed Saddiq via Aksiz)
