The Street Fighter producer made the announcement on Twitter. In his tweet, Ono also touched on this year’s Capcom Pro Tour, which has been shifted online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Which, naturally, faced criticisms of its own, due to the nature of fighting games in general, and the way online lag aversely affects the experience.

— Yoshinori Ono (@Yoshi_OnoChin) August 9, 2020 Yoshinori Ono joined Capcom in the early 90s, mostly doing sound work for the company’s other games. These range from Street Fighter Alpha 3 to Devil May Cry. He would then move up to be the producer of games like Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams in 2006, before becoming the producer of Street Fighter IV. Ono did not say where he will be going to next. But with his departure, Capcom will be losing one of its most recognisable public figures. (Source: Twitter. Image: Twitter)
