Road to VR reports that most of the Index packages are sold out in the US and Canada. Even the option that allows you to buy only the Knuckles controllers alongside the game was sold out. At least in the US, only the “full kit” containing the headset, the Knuckles controllers and base stations, remain available. But even those who order will still have to wait until it’s almost Christmas before they will get the kit.

The last time there was such a high demand for the Valve Index was back when it was first announced, according to Road to VR. A few months after the initial hype, stocks of the VR headset remained readily available. With only the US and Canada are facing an Index shortage, perhaps it’s a sign that interest for Half-Life: Alyx is greatest in these two countries. Valve currently sells the Index in 31 countries, with Canada being one of two new additions to the list. Unfortunately, Malaysia is not in the list yet. And it remains to be seen if Valve will be expanding its availability again in the future. If it does, here’s hoping that we’ll get our turn to get added to the list. (Source: Road to VR, Valve)
