The US president has suggested that Twitter should be sued, insinuating that it’s biased. Trump has been consistently vocal about the company censoring conservative views and messages. He claims that the platform made it very hard for people to “join me in Twitter” or “for me to get out the message”.

It’s ironic that this is a stance that he adopted after being elected president of the US. If anything, he was reluctant to do the same before his election. Axios reports that Trump said Twitter made it easier for him to reach Americans in an unfiltered way. His follower count has nearly quintupled since his election in November 2016. When his follower count was at 12.9 million back then, it now sits at over 60 million. Trump going after social media and the media in general feels like a counter-intuitive move. After all, American news outlets, regardless of their real or perceived political views, constantly feature his tweets to be shown to the viewing masses. (Source: Axiom)
