Sources to Wareable say that Samsung is waiting for approval by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). With that, the feature will likely only be activated via an update in the first half of 2020. It’s much the same story as when the WatchOS 5.2 activated the feature on the Apple Watch 4 for users outside of the US. That said, other heart rate monitoring features will still be active.
In the same vein, the LTE functionality of the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 will only be compatible with Android devices at launch. Compatibility for iPhones is planned, but it’s unsure when it will happen. Speaking of LTE, the Galaxy Watch Active 2 will come in LTE and Bluetooth versions. The latter will also get a version with an Under Armour-branded band. The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 is slated to be announced on 7 August, alongside the Galaxy Note 10. We’ll have to wait a little longer before we find out when the Korean tech giant will be bringing the wearable to Malaysia. (Source: Wareable)
