This is based on the beta code of iOS 12.2, as spotted by Steven Troughton-Smith, who shared this observation via Twitter. This could possibly put the talk of redesigns for the two upcoming iPads into question. And by extension, this also suggests that the two iPads will be relying of Touch ID.

— Steve Troughton-Smith (@stroughtonsmith) January 25, 2019 Interestingly, there was also mention of an upcoming iPod in the beta code of iOS 12.2 as well. That said, neither Face ID nor Touch ID were mentioned, suggesting there will not be any major change for the dedicated music player. Whether all of this holds true, we’ll have to wait a little longer to find out. The iPad mini is said to be already in production, pending an announcement in the first half of 2019. Meanwhile, the standard iPad is also said to be scheduled for an announcement in the second half of the year. (Source: Steve Throughton-Smith / Twitter via AppleInsider)
