To quickly recap, this Twitter feature makes it so that whenever you tweet, you have to choose one of three options. The first is to allow everyone to reply. The other two option limits it to only people you follow, or only people you mention. It won’t completely eliminate all flame wars, but at least it won’t contaminate the conversation you started. Twitter says that while the feature was being tested, it allowed users to feel more protected from abuse. Based on this, it’s probably safe to say that the feature has achieved the goal the company set out to achieve.
