Naturally, to use this you’ll first need to have a Hue Bridge, as well as colour-capable Philips Hue lights. Then, you’ll need to link your Philips Hue and Spotify accounts. From there, as long as you play tracks via your Spotify account, your Philips Hue lights will adjust their lighting effects depending on the track’s genre, temp, mood and so on.
While it’s probably possible to achieve similar effects before, this partnership between the two companies means that you will no longer need any third party solution to achieve it. The Hue app analyses the metadata for each song and creates the light scripts within the app itself. Signify, which makes the Philips Hue line, announced that the feature begins rolling out today.
