According to Sharma, the allegedly upcoming models will consist of a standard variant and two Pro configurations. The vanilla Xiaomi 12S is said to pack the newly unveiled Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, which is paired together with up to 12GB of RAM and a maximum storage capacity of 512GB. Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 12S Pro variant is also offered with either the same Qualcomm processor as its sibling or alternatively, a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 flagship SoC. Similar to the standard variant, the Pro comes with up to 12GB RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage.

However, the charging speeds for the vanilla model and the Dimensity 9000 version are still not known at this time. Similarly, no details regarding the camera loadout on all three devices were provided either. There’s a possibility that Sharma’s leak corroborates with another that was shared on Weibo in May, which revealed a hands-on photo (shown below) of an unknown Xiaomi smartphone bearing a Leica branding on its rear camera array. Several publications that reported on the image believe that the device in question could be one of the Xiaomi 12S models that were spotted in the IMEI database a month prior. However, like the Ultra variant, Xiaomi has yet to confirm whether the supposed Xiaomi 12S series are actually planned for release. Provided that the leaks are accurate, we can expect the company to officially announce these models sometime before their launch, which is rumoured to take place in July.
