The patent images were presented side by side with Dutch sit LetsGoDigital’s concept renders and shows off a portion of the supposed user interface. At a glance, it’s clear that Sony is still intent on retaining the 21:9 aspect ratio on its next Xperia device. The takeaway here, though, is the illustration on the far right; LetsGoDigital’s concept image depicts the upcoming Xperia with a punch hole display. Additionally, it also suggests that its will an edge-to-edge display with what looks like a pretty sizable chin at the bottom.

It’s an ironic turn of events, more so because Sony has previously spoken out against punch holes display. Stating that such a design simply ruins the viewing experience. The design and position of the phone’s punch hole are also worth noting. It’s situated directly in the middle of the display’s forehead, a position that is identical to Samsung’s Galaxy Note10 and Note10+. As always, these are merely rumours and concepts, and no official statement has been provided by Sony just yet, so we do ask that you treat this news with a healthy dose of skepticism.
