As for the reason, the company said that “the vision of E3 2020 is the right venue for what we are focused on this year”. Unfortunately, the company stopped short of explaining what it meant by that. Up until 2018, the PlayStation name has been part of E3 ever since its first installment. The reason for Sony passing on E3 last year was widely believed to be because the company had nothing new to announce.

But the company definitely has its PS5 on the horizon this year. Then there’s also Sucker Punch Productions’ Ghost Of Tsushima, which finally got a release window of summer 2020. The PlayStaion exclusive title could definitely do with another trailer that showcases more gameplay. Since it’s still skipping E3 2020, it may be because Sony has other plans for the official unveiling of its upcoming console. As for what that is, we’ll have to wait for Sony to share more on that. Hopefully this doesn’t affect its release during the year end holidays. (Source: GamesIndustry.biz)
