VGC reports that SIE is still negotiating with Tobii for the latter to be the eye-tracking tech provider for the PS VR 2. The Swedish company also says that it is “not commenting on the financial impact of the deal” while the negotiation is still ongoing. This may explain why despite the announcement, SIE has no details to share about the PS VR 2 beyond name and specs. If it has not finalised where to get eye-tracking tech from, then it’s no real surprise that the company cannot reveal a release date. It may still get announced within the year, but it looks to be cutting it even closer than before. While we don’t know where SIE will be getting eye-tracking hardware from, we know that the PS VR 2 will have two IR cameras for that purpose. It will also have four cameras for headset and controller tracking, negating the need for an external camera to work the way its predecessor did. (Source: VGC)
