To celebrate the occasion, Sega has announced several commemorative merchandises including the Game Gear Micro which is essentially a tiny replica of the company’s only attempt at a handheld gaming console. Just look at the image below: you can fit four Game Gear Micro within the palm of your two hands.
Equipped with a 1.15-inch colour display, the tiny replica also comes with a mono speaker and 3.5mm audio port. Gamers can choose to power it up with two AAA batteries or through its micro USB port. The Game Gear Micro is made available in four variants that are divided into four different colours which also carry a different set of games. For example, the Black colourway comes with three games including Sonic The Hedgehog, OutRun, Puyo Puyo 2, and Royal Stone. Accompanying the Blue unit is the Sonic Chaos, Gunstar Heroes, Sylvan Tale, and Baku Baku Animal while the Yellow model receives Shining Force Gaiden: Ensei – Jashin no Kuni, Shining Force: The Sword of Hajya, Shining Force Gaiden: Final Conflict, and Nazopuyo Aruru no Ru. As for the Red variant, it includes Revelations: The Demon Slayer, Megami Tensei Gaiden: Last Bible Special, The GG Shinobi, and Columns. Each Game Gear Micro is priced at JPY 4980 (RM 195.50) although customers can also choose to purchase all four variants in one go which entitles them to an attachment accessory called Big Window that helps magnify the tiny display on the handheld gaming device.
To be released this coming October, the Game Gear Micro will only be made available in Japan though. Well, we don’t think that would stop any diehard Sega fans and eager game enthusiasts alike from getting their hands on the tiny gaming device anyway. (Source: Sega.)
