However, the feature was first discovered within Samsung Pay’s APK by Lowyat.NET Forums user Pjng much earlier in March 2020. Another forum user, MRS_consultant is the first to point out the existence of the discontinuation notice.
While the notice didn’t provide any explanation behind the sudden retirement of the Boost QR feature, it did say that the move will have no impact on the user’s Boost e-wallet balance. That being said, Samsung will no longer entertain manual Samsung Rewards Points requests for Boost payment starting from tomorrow, 4 November.
For now, Samsung Pay users can still perform Boost QR transactions although they will be requested to install a mandatory update on 15 November which we believe will cut off the access to the feature. To check out the full notice, click on the hamburger menu on the top left side of the Samsung Pay app and choose Notices. (Thank you to our long-time tipster KevinNgTK for the info!)
