The use of RFID support allows users to attach RFID stickers to their vehicles that links to the their Touch ‘n Go (TnG) eWallets. Once the system enabled toll booth detects the user’s RFID signature, their toll charges will be deducted from their eWallets based on the respective rates. According to the statement, RFID is expected to help ease traffic congestion along open-toll operated highways by allowing road users to pay their toll charges wirelessly, without needing to stop at booths to use their TnG cards. RFID also provides several other benefits to users, including a battery-less approach and simpler top-up method.
