Collectively known as Program Strategik Memperkasa Rakyat Dan Ekonomi Tambahan or PEMERKASA+, it carries a total value of RM 40 billion according to PM Muhyiddin. The new programme also includes allocations specifically for chartered bus, e-hailing, hired car, taxi, and school bus drivers as well as tour guides.
Involving a one-time payment of RM 500 for each of them, PM Muhyiddin pointed out that around 62,000 hired car and e-hailing drivers alongside 40,000 taxi drivers will receive the aid. The same goes for 17,000 tour guides together with 11,000 school bus and 4,000 chartered bus drivers. In total, this particular aid distribution takes around RM 68 million off from the PEMERKASA+’s total budget. While PM Muhyiddin didn’t provide specific details on how one can actually obtain the one-off financial aid, he did say that it will be provided to eligible receivers this coming July.
