As you might have heard, the permission will only be given to those that want to come back to the city after they were left stranded at their hometown due to the extension of Movement Control Order (MCO) which has since been rescheduled to conclude on 12 May. Even then, PM Muhyiddin Yassin has stated that there is a possibility that MCO could be extended even further. While the registration supposed to begin today as per the original announcement by Minister Ismail, PDRM on another hand pointed out that the application can submitted tomorrow, 26 April instead. This can be done through the Gerak Malaysia app which is available for download immediately through Apple iOS App Store, Google Play, and Huawei AppGallery. After that, applicants need to provide their destination via the app on 29 April. They can then check the status of their applications on 1 May in which if approved, applicants can make their journey back to the city starting from 1 May itself until 3 May.
For those who not able to utilize the Gerak Malaysia app for some reason, they can apply for the interstate travel permission through written application at the nearest police station. However, PDRM insists that application through Gerak Malaysia app will be given the priority by authorities.
