The discovery was made by a security vulnerability research by the name of Mike Heskin. Heskin, who was sifting through the Switch’s recent 10.0.0 firmware update, said that the new firmware update also carried preliminary support for a new Switch model. Codenamed “nx-abcd”. It is from this discovery that Heskin believes that the next Switch device to hit market could very well be sporting a “secondary display of sorts” being added exclusively to the model.

Whether or not the second display will take on the form factor of Nintendo’s original 3DS and or 2DS XL is yet to be seen, but one has to admit that a return to the clamshell design wouldn’t be unwelcome.
