Bloomberg reports that Apple is currently testing a magnetic wireless charging system for the next iPad Pro. It’s something that’s similar to its iPhone 12’s MagSafe tech. The report also mentions the possibility of reverse wireless charging, making the tablet a wireless charging point itself. All that being said, it’s unlikely that this new iPad Pro will be making an appearance this year. After all, Apple just announced the model that comes with its M1 chip earlier in May. And with that, this may make an appearance next year instead.
But for this year, Bloomberg reports that something else will be making an appearance. And that’s a redesigned iPad mini. The report mentions a smaller bezel and the removal of the home button, much like the iPad Pro. This kind of rumour has been floating around since before the iPad mini 5. The next generation of the model currently has conflicting reports. An earlier one suggests the thinner bezel redesign with two punch hole camera cutouts on opposite ends. While this is sort of in line with the latest report, it contradicts another involving dummy units that suggests that it will not have a design change. (Source: Bloomberg via The Verge)
