In a brief statement by the Microsoft team earlier today, the company had only mentioned that they are indeed releasing the aforementioned plan in the second half of 2021. However, they continued to assure users that additional information regarding the price, official name of the product, and availability will be provided at a later time.

Currently, users may choose to use Google’s G Suite package which comprises of Docs, Sheets and Slides, to provide them with an alternative if they do not have Microsoft Office suite installed in their devices. Although there are other free Office suites available for download, some file formats may only be compatible on Microsoft Office, creating a demand in the process. That being said, Microsoft’s decision to bring in a perpetual version of its Office suite for users would certainly be an affordable alternative for many.
