Currently in its fifth year (the original iteration was launched way back in 2012 though), eKelas is Maxis’ community programme that has since reached more than 50,000 students from over 600 schools throughout the country. Primarily made for Year 4 to Form 5 students in rural communities, the initiative provides free digital learning content that is in line with the national syllabus from the Ministry of Education.
Through the app, students will have access to revision and learning videos, exam notes, reading materials, and live tutorial sessions guided by experienced teachers as well as the app community manager known as Abang Portal. eKelas also has competitions for the students such as HIP StoryFest and Misi Jelajah Digital which encourages coding, critical thinking, and storytelling skills. Teachers will also be able to use the app to stay connected with their students, with the ability to communicate and share learning content with other teachers. Parents can also use the app to observe and stay up to date with their child’s activities on the app. Those who are interested can register on the eKelas portal while the eKelas mobile app can be downloaded through Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.
