This year’s Huawei MatePad Pro arrives with a 12.6-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels and an aspect ratio of 16:10. The screen itself boasts a high 90.1% screen-to-body ratio, thanks to the ultra slim 5.6mm bezels that surround it. Its large display also enables it to support HarmonyOS’ new Multi-Window mode, which lets users run various instances of applications on-screen. Hardware-wise, the new tablet features the company’s own Kirin 9000E 5G chipset, paired with 8GB RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage capacity. In addition, users also have the option to expand its storage up to an extra 256GB via the company’s proprietary Nano (NM) Card. Powering the MatePad Pro is a massive 10,050 mAh battery with wired and wireless fast charging support at 40W and 27W respectively. If required, the tablet also features reverse wired and wireless charging capabilities at 5W and 10W respectively.
On the back of the 2021 MatePad Pro is a dual camera setup which consists of a 13MP main sensor and an 8MP ultra-wide. Being a tablet, it is expected that it will lack gimmicky additions such a telephoto or macro lens but surprisingly enough, the Pro does feature autofocusing enhancements via a 3D TOF sensor. Meanwhile, housed on the side bezel of its display is an 8MP front-facing camera for video calls and selfies.
Together with the MatePad Pro, Huawei confirmed that its 2nd generation M-Pencil accessory will also arrive in Malaysia at the same time. The first-party stylus boasts a low latency of 11.2 ms, and features 4,096 points of sensitivity in terms of pressure and tilt. Additionally, users can magnetically attach the new M-Pencil onto the MatePad or other compatible tablets by the brand to charge its internal battery.
Unfortunately, Huawei did not reveal the local pricing for its new tablet just yet. For that, we’ll have to tune into the MatePad Pro’s official Malaysian launch next week on Thursday, 10 June. (Source: Huawei press release / Official website)
