Looks aside, Huawei promises an array of features with the new Freebuds including “Air-Like Comfort” and Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). From the looks of the earbuds themselves sans lipstick case and the specifications, the pair seems to be based on this year’s Freebuds 4.
The Freebuds Lipstick feature a 14.3mm audio driver, wear detection, Bluetooth 5.2, IPX4 water-resistance, and uses tap gestures to control playback. The ANC uses what Huawei calls an open-fit design and adaptive ear-matching technology, which detects the shape of your inner ear to customise the noise cancellation effect to reduce low-frequency environmental noises with more precision. Huawei says that with the 30mAh battery in each earbud, you can get 2.5 hours on a single charge with ANC turned on and up to four hours with ANC turned off. The lipstick case has a 410mAh battery capacity and provides a total of 22 hours listening time without ANC and 14 hours with the feature on.
The earbuds also come with Huawei’s Intelligent Audio Connection, which lets you re-route audio from Huawei Vision TVs to the Freebuds from your phone. The system also allows the Freebuds to connect to two Huawei devices at once and can be connected to a Huawei smartwatch to directly control ANC modes and music playback. The Freebuds Lipstick are available exclusively in red and will be sold in Europe for EUR249 (~RM1203), much higher than the Freebuds 4 which has a price tag of RM599 in Malaysia. Unfortunately, there has been no announcement on pricing and availability in other regions as of writing. (Source: Huawei)
