The new ‘Busyness Information’ feature was first introduced during Google’s Search On live stream event that was held recently. As seen in the screenshot below, Google Maps will now be equipped with a Busier Than Usual and As Busy As It Gets indicator under a locations name.
As an add-on to the Busyness Information feature, Google Maps will also be embedded with the ability to notify users on how congested a particular area is even while they are navigating there. This will simultaneously provide Maps users with the option to divert to another location if the desired destination is currently facing crowd congestion. At the time of writing, Google has mentioned that it will release this feature soon on the Maps app for Android, iOS and desktop devices as well.
