In a way, the S42 can be considered as a “lite” version of Garmin’s 2020 release. Even though it features a similar design and colour options as the Approach S62, there are several differences. Most apparent being the newer model’s smaller size, where it instead features a 1.2-inch colour touchscreen display. And unlike its high-end sibling, there’s only one button on the right side of the watch. The Approach S42 also comes with a smaller battery capacity, though its usage time is still commendable nonetheless. To be more specific, Garmin says the new smartwatch is able to last up to 15 hours in GPS mode and up to 10 days in smartwatch mode. Features-wise, onboard the S42 are over 42,000 preloaded golf courses, the AutoShot round analyser which tracks and records shot distances, the Green View feature for learning each green’s true shape and yardage accuracy, and much more. Typical of most smartwatches that are available in the market, it also comes with smart notifications and numerous activity-tracking capabilities such as for steps, sleep and calories, among others. As mentioned earlier, it is compatible with the Garmin Golf app which allows users to participate in weekly leaderboards, tournaments, review live scoring, strokes gained analysis, automatic scorecard uploads and more. Lastly, there’s also the ability to pair with the brand’s Approach CT10 club sensor to track the distance of players hitting each club. The new Garmin Approach S42 is offered in black and white colours, and is priced at RM 1,480. Those interested can check out the brand’s official online stores on Shopee, Lazada and AECO e-store, as well as authorised Garmin brand stores and retailers nationwide.
