What makes the new GBD-200 rather different from GBD-100 is its square-shaped case. This particular design was derived from the first-ever G-Shock watch, the DW-5000C which was released back in 1983. At the same time, Casio pointed out that the GBD-200’s urethane-based case is also much more compact as it is 2.0mm slimmer, 8.8mm shorter, and 3.4mm narrower than the GBD-100. Aside from that, the buttons on the watch have been purposely designed to make the GBD-200 look flattering when viewed from the side. The new model is also slightly lighter at 58g as opposed to its 2020’s counterpart which weighs around 69g. When it comes to fitness features though, the GBD-200 offers similar functionalities and even an identical user interface as per GBD-100. Among them is the ability to track steps and runs which is being done using its accelerometer but for more accurate measurement, users can choose to utilise the watch’s connected GPS function by connecting it to their phone via Bluetooth. Not to forget, users can monitor, analyse, and store all the activities tracked by the GBD-200 through the G-Shock Move app. Meanwhile, we have confirmed with Casio Malaysia’s representative that the new G-Shock G-Squad GBD-200 is indeed on its way to our market but its exact release date and pricing are not yet known for the time being. We will keep you posted once we have more information soon enough. (Source: Casio.)
