The Tor browser in infamous for being the gateway into the dark web. It also happens to be able to obscure the user’s identity, and data being accessed. This allows users to safely read uncensored news in countries where that happens often. The BBC itself cites China, Vietnam and Iran as countries that have tried to block access to it.
For whose using the Tor browser, the BBC says you can use the bbcnewsv2vjtpsuy.onion URL instead of the usual ones. This will allow users to read the international edition of BBC News, the edition for those outside of the UK. The URL will also naturally not work on a regular browser. For those who are unfamiliar, the dark web refers to corners of the internet that’s usually inaccessible to the general public. It’s also quite common for sites found here to have the .onion suffix. These sites will also be inaccessible to those who don’t already know the exact URL they’re looking for. (Source: BBC)
