MacRumors reports that Kuo predicts the Apple mixed reality headset to be a “helmet type” product. The prediction sort of corroborates a previous one by JPMorgan Chase analyst Yang Weilun. In addition to the same release year, Kuo also echoes the prediction that the headset will provide the AR part of the mixed reality via “several optical modules”. He also predicts that it will come with a price of US$1000. While still expensive, it’s a fair bit lower than the US$3000 as reported by The Information.
That being said, Kuo claims that the Apple AR glasses will only be making an appearance come 2025 at the earliest. This is because he believes it doesn’t even have a prototype yet. But on the other hand, Kuo also believes that the company will then be working on AR contact lenses. These would achieve the same effect, but slated for between 2030 and 2040. It’s been one wild set of rumours to the next, when it comes to Apple and its VR and AR projects. But it looks like they all still have a long way to go before actually making it to the market.
