The technical demo is called “Hangar 21” and based on the teaser trailer AMD released, it’s obviously a program designed to allow gamers to benchmark the prowess and strength of the company’s new Big Navi-powered GPU. The content of the tech demo takes on a sci-fi theme, but in true AMD tradition and form, it is also splashed and dripping with all shades of red, black, and blue. Additionally, it is also indicated within the teaser that Hangar 21 runs on various open-source programs via AMD’s FidelityFX, in combination with Microsoft’s DirectX 12 Ultimate (DX12 Ultimate) API. From what we can tell, this seems to include ray-traced shadows (obviously), ray-traced reflections, and what could be AMD’s own interpretation of global illumination. As to when the tech demo will be available, the end of the video states that AMD will be available from 19 November onwards. (Source: AMD via Techspot)
