To recap, the 5500 XT is built around AMD’s new 7nm Navi GPU architecture. As such, the card is also based upon the company’s RDNA architecture and supports the new PCIe 4.0 interface.
Specs-wise, the 5500 XT is available in either a 4GB or 8GB GDDR6 variant, has 1408 Stream processors, 22 Compute Units, and a default boost clockspeed of 1845MHz. Further, it has a memory frequency of 14Gbps. Regarding its power draw, the GPU has a 130W TDP and a 128-bit memory bus. Like most entry-level graphics card, AMD is going to skip making a Radeon RX 5500 XT with a reference design and just hand the card’s PCB over to its AiB partners. For the uninitiated, these partners include ASUS, MSI, Sapphire, and XFX, to name a few.
Oddly enough, we still don’t have a retail price for the Radeon RX 5500 XT, despite AMD having told us that it would provide us with said information just before the embargo lifted. Rest assured, we’ll update the article once we’ve received it.
