The leak was provided by none other than well-known industry insider Ice Universe via Twitter, who also hinted that the Civi would be Xiaomi’s “most beautiful mobile phone” not long after the company’s announcement. The photos revealed a tall smartphone with a curved display, high screen-to-body ratio and thin bezels, along with a small punch-hole cutout for its front-facing camera. Its back features a metallic gradient casing and a vertical yet slightly protruding camera bump, which consists of three sensors arranged in a pyramid formation – with the main camera taking more space and situated above the two other shooters. The alleged Xiaomi Civi is also shown to be accompanied by a small iPhone-like packaging. The smaller box suggests that the new smartphone will be shipped without a wall-plug charger – a now common practice amongst smartphone makers (especially for their premium lines), with the interest of reducing potential waste that would harm the environment.
— Ice universe (@UniverseIce) September 23, 2021 Other than that, Ice Universe added that the Civi is expected to retail at US$350 (~RM1,466). The specifications and features of the new device are still unknown at this time, but unofficial sources are claiming that the new phone would come with a Snapdragon 778G processor and a 120Hz display. However, other supposed information regarding the Civi are seemingly all over the place – with some suggesting that its main camera would feature a 108MP sensor, while others say its a 64MP camera instead. There’s also rumours suggesting that the phone’s rear cover would feature photo/electrochromic technology, and that its fingerprint sensor would be side-mounted instead of under-display – both of which seems unlikely when referring to Ice Universe’s leak. Of course, lets not disregard the fact that the images provided by the leakster are also unofficial and may end up being inaccurate in the end. Nevertheless, we’ll only find out about the actual design, specs, and other details of upcoming Xiaomi Civi when it is unveiled next week. Specifically, as per yesterday’s announcement, Xiaomi confirmed that the new phone will launch virtually in China on 27 September 2021 at 2pm. (Source: Ice Universe [Twitter – 1, 2] / GizmoChina)
