As with all event quests in the series, the acquisition of the layered armour involves completing the special event quest. Of course, seeing Amaterasu outside of the original cell-shaded graphics will take some getting used to. In Monster Hunter Rise, the RE Engine will be giving her visible fur textures....

The discovery was made by an AMD-sponsored Facebook streamer, Gina Darling. Some of you may remember her days at Machinima under the pseudonym SuperExvillain, but since the site’s closure, she seems to have been flying solo in the world of streaming. Getting back to the point at hand, Darling had made the discovery of AMD’s alleged naming convention in Fornite; during one of her streaming sessions in a new map – it was jointly created by AMD and Fortnite Creative Island modder MAKAMAKES – she discovered the Easter Egg by performing certain tasks to get to the proverbial egg....

Evidence of the card’s existence was made known via special notice to members of AMD’s Red Team. Apart from the different colour scheme, however, everything else about the card seems to remain unchanged. Like the standard 6800XT, its Navi 21 XT GPU is still based on the RDNA2 architecture, has 4608 Stream Processors, is equipped with 16GB GDDR6 graphics memory, and sports the same 128MB Infinity Cache. The tweet itself is simple, if not basic; he simply states that the maximum value for DDR4 RAM on the upcoming Ryzen 3000 series CPUs seems to be set at 5000MHz in UCLK mode. For context, the UCLK refers to the frequency of the Unified Memory Controller (UMC)....

According to AMD’s support page, both the company and Microsoft have found two main issues which, thankfully, are software-based rather than hardware related. This means that the problems can be remedied with a future update for Windows 11, so AMD Ryzen owners can still breathe a sigh of relief. It turns out that Windows 11 may cause the L3 cache latency to triple, which causes a drop of three to five percent in performance when running most affected applications....

Evidence of the rollout was first reported by XDA writer Mishaal Rahman, who managed to take a screenshot of an internal Google document that tells us when the search engine will cease approving software builds, based on Android 10, 11, and 12. According to the document, the OS is slated to be released via its Android Open Source Project (AOSP). While not mentioned, it is also likely that the final and stable build of Android 12 will rollout for Pixel phones first....

XDA reports that the mention of the Italian dessert was found in an AOSP commit, in a line that simply reads “Rename T to Tiramisu”. As mentioned earlier, this will likely remain a name that’s used only internally. Google used to name its Android mobile OS versions after desserts, even publicly. This stopped with Android 10, which was simply known to the public as Android 10. Though internally, the company still referred to it as Quince Tart....

Security researchers Peter Dantini and Patrick Wardle found the malware disguised as an Adobe Flash installer. Known as the Shlayer, it was rated by Kaspersky as the most common threat for Macs in 2019. And what it does is intercept encrypted web traffic, replacing websites and search results with its own ads. Wardle says that this is the first time Apple has approved of a known malware. TechCrunch reports that thanks to the report by Dantini and Wardle, Apple revoked the notarised malware shortly after the researchers reached out to the company....

Specifically, the various websites remarked that the monitor’s camera produced grainy, low-contrast, and even muddy images. As demonstrated by comparison photos shared by WSJ writer Joanna Stern on Twitter, the differences in quality between the built-in camera on the Studio Display and several other devices is pretty jarring. One of which is an iPhone 11 Pro, which shares the same A13 Bionic chipset that is also equipped on the new Apple monitor....

Reuters reports that Judge Rodney Smith ruled in favour of Corellium, the security startup in question. He said that the iOS emulation amounted to “fair use” because it was “transformative”. While these terms are more commonly heard in the YouTube content creation sphere these days, it also applies here as Smith says it helps developers find security flaws. According to the report, the suit had Apple accuse the emulating of iOS by Corellium as having the “sole function” of running the operating system on non-Apple hardware....

Silk Labs is not a company many people would know outside of the realm of machine learning. The company was co-founded by Andreas Gal, the former Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to Mozilla. To date, the company has only launched a single product – Sense, a smart camera designed for the smart home. Unfortunately, the company’s endeavour into the world of smart devices didn’t pan out as well as it had hope, and soon shifted its focus towards on-device machine learning services....

Brazilian consumer protection body Procon-SP issued a US$2 million (~RM8.2 million) to Apple over the weekend. The fine didn’t exactly come without warning. About the time Apple announced the iPhone 12, Procon questioned the environmental gains of not including a charger with the phone. A month after that, the regulator concluded that the company did not demonstrate environmental gain from the move. In addition to not including a charger, Procon is also charging Apple for a number of other issues....

Some 40 minutes ago, Apple announced that it will broadcast another special event from Apple Park on 13 October 2020 at 10:00 AM local time. For us Malaysians, that means 1:00 AM on 14 October 2020. Interesting enough, Apple has included the phrase “Hi, Speed” inside the note that it has sent to members of the media with regards to the special event. For now, Apple has not yet decided for sure what the project is for, specifically. But as mentioned earlier, it will likely be used to send data directly to a user’s device. It could also be used to allow for, say, an iPhone, to connect to another without the need for a traditional network by a third party telco. Another use case option is to use the satellite tech to improve location tracking for its devices....

Apple has yet to make an announcement on the matter, but a Redditor has spotted a new set of fine print on the Apple support page for the iPhone. Below the “Get estimate” button, the company writes that “Effective 1 March 2023, the out-of-warranty battery service fee will be increased by US$20 (~RM88) for all iPhone models prior to iPhone 14”. According to TechCrunch, a small batch of Indian-made iPhone 11 devices have already been shipped out to retail stores, despite production yield of the factory still being limited.
